Myths and realities in plant-based nutrition with Alyssa Fontaine - #Introduction
Make professionals aware of a plant-based diet!
Plant-based food
"In a vegan diet, we are talking about a diet that consumes no products that come from animals. "
Why choose a plant-based diet?
There are 3 main reasons for choosing a plant-based diet.
When dealing with a client, it is important to ask the right questions about their diet. You need to find out the real reasons behind your client's food choices. This way, it will be easier for you to keep them motivated and to understand the basis of their choices.
There are 3 main reasons for choosing a plant-based diet.
1- For health reasons.
Some people decide to take the step towards this type of diet to lose weight or simply to eat healthier.
Please note: we are not talking about a diet here! Only a change towards good lifestyle habits. That said, be alert and vigilant for eating disorders.
The plant-based diet is not restrictive, as long as you tell yourself that you can eat whatever you want, by finding healthier alternatives!
2- For environmental reasons.
It is no longer a secret that eating meat is very polluting. For the well-being of the planet, opting for a plant-based diet can be a justified choice.
3- For ethical reasons.
Some people will choose a vegan diet for the welfare of the animals.
How to get the tools?
It's all about learning! You have to take the time to learn.
Many of us were not raised on this diet, so we have to learn to live with it. It's not that complicated in the end; replace the meat protein on your plate with a plant-based protein! For example tofu, tempeh, legumes, nuts, etc.
The first step is to get informed and find your motivation.
For yourself and your clients, the best way is to look at the vegan plate. It shows the different food groups and the preparation you will have to do for the coming weeks!
You just need to know how to build the dishes right, with the right vitamins and minerals! Watch the second podcast on the subject right here.
